Historia de Santa Claus
Hacia el siglo II un sacerdote cristiano llamado Nicolás abandonó Italia, para difundir en Asia la palabra de Dios. Siendo misionero, fue trasladado a Myra, para ser nombrado obispo. Murió un 6 de diciembre, fue proclamado santo e inspiró la figura de Papá Noel. La figura de Santa Claus, con la estética que ahora conocemos, es una invención estadounidense del siglo XX, si bien se basó en la vida y la leyenda de San Nicolás. Actualmente, se designa al mismo personaje en los distintos países, como Santa Claus, Papá Noel o San Nicolás. Aunque en ciertos lugares el día de San Nicolás se celebra el 6 de diciembre. El nombre Santa Claus es una contracción de Sanctus Nicolaus, y se refiere específicamente a San Nicolás de Bari, quien fuera Obispo de Mira en el S. IV, personaje de una enorme bondad y protector sobretodo de los niños. Se creó sobre él una bonita leyenda que decía que por las noches repartía regalos entre los necesitados y los niños.
